2024-25 DIVISION 2 STATE PENNANT RUNNER UP

OH, WHAT A FEELING!

Bowls NSW held their 2024-25 Women’s Pennant Finals at Figtree Bowling Club from 11th-13th March and what a tremendous week away it was for the Tuncurry Forster Sports Division 2 Pennant Team.

On day one of the Playoffs, the heavens opened, and it rained all day, but it did not stop the ladies taking to the bowling greens. We only played one game and lost to Bomaderry before the bowling greens were closed.

On day two, thankfully no sign of rain and we played Merimbula Inlay in the morning. This was a close game that went down to the wire, however we dug deep and won the game to progress to the Quarterfinals. Another tough game in the Quarterfinals this time against Engadine. It was a great game played in good sportsmanship and went down to the wire with Sporties winning.

On day three, under brilliant sunshine, hot and humid conditions our opponents in the Semi-Finals were Maitland City. If there were any nerves from us it was not showing, and our bowling was very consistent, and Sporties defeated Maitland City to progress to the Final.

Our opponents in the Final were from West Tamworth, and we knew they would be on a high as they had not lost a game throughout the Playoffs. The ladies from West Tamworth got off to a good start and immediately settled into their line and length. They managed to keep the pressure on Sporties with consistent bowling with bowls in the head. As hard as Sporties tried, West Tamworth were able to pull away from us and win the Final. Congratulations to West Tamworth on winning the Division 2 State Flag.

Congratulations to Marilyn Fitzgerald, Sue Ryan, Dianne Blanch, Ruth Higham, Judy Lawrenson, Helen Campbell, Vicki Piper, Helen Bush, and Robyn McDonnell (Reserve/Manager) on their tremendous achievement of being BOWLS NSW 2024/25 Women’s Pennant Division 2 RUNNER-UP. Also, THANK YOU to Marko Pendelj our Coach and to the loyal supporters who cheered and supported the Sporties Team playing at Figtree.
