ROUND 1 – 1st & 7th NOVEMBER 2024 – V. Piper & G. Re defeated D. Bauerhuit & E. Windle, P. Herbert & S. Leonard wof D. Hampson & N. Shaw, S. Ryan & R. Higham defeated T. Bowman & M. Gorrie.
ROUND 2 – 7th & 8th NOVEMBER 2024 – V. Piper & G. Re defeated M. Fitzgerald & J. Lawrenson, J. Curry & K. Carlton defeated P. Herbert & S. Leonard, S. Ryan & R. Higham wof C. Moore & J. Baldwin, R. McDonnell & H. Campbell defeated L. Clark & D. Blanch.
SEMI-FINAL – 14th NOVEMBER 2024 – J. Curry & K. Carlton 20 defeated V. Piper & G. Re 17 and S. Ryan & R. Higham 23 defeated R. McDonnell & H. Campbell 22.
In both the Semi-Finals they went down to not only the last end, but also the last bowl played. In the game between Julie Curry and Karen Carlton they defeated Vicki Piper and Gae Re and in the game between Sue Ryan and Ruth Higham they defeated Robyn McDonnell and Helen Campbell.
The Final of the Major Pairs Championship between Julie Carry and Karen Carlton against Sue Ryan and Ruth Higham commenced on 15th November under cloudy skies. All four players were on the top of their game and playing great bowls. However, after End 7 the rain set in, and play suspended for the day, with Sue and Ruth leading Julie and Karen 6-2.
The game resumed on 25th November and the scores continued to be close throughout, with only a shot or two the difference. Going into the last end, Sue and Ruth were leading 15-13 and it was anyone’s game. Julie and Karen won the last end with four shots to take out the 2024-25 Major Pairs Championship 17-15.
Congratulations to all four Finalists on a great game of bowls, it was terrific to watch. Congratulations to Julie and Karen on winning consecutive Major Pairs Championship.
