2023-24 CLUB FOURS CHAMPIONSHIP
THREE TIME WINNERS
Our 2023-24 Club Fours Championship were played during April. The Semi-Finals were played on 11th April and they were both thrilling encounters with both games being decided in the last End. In one Vicki Piper, Robyn McDonnell, Val Feuersanger and Gae Re defeated Lesley Morrison, Julie Middleton, Marilyn Fitzgerald and Jackie Houston 24-21. In the other Julie Curry, Sharyn Newcombe, Karen Mudford and Donna Hampson defeated Helen Campbell, Terrie Bowman, June Kilpatrick and Maz Gorrie 22-18.
The Final was played on 12th April between Vicki Piper, Robyn McDonnell, Val Feuersanger, Gae Re and Julie Curry, Sharyn Newcombe, Karen Mudford, Donna Hampson. It was a very good game played in good sportsmanship between two competitive teams. Both teams had a steady start with Donna’s team leading after 7 Ends 6-5. Donna’s team then won the next 3 ends to have a handy lead 12-6 and after 15 Ends were leading 14-10.
Donna’s team won 4 of the next 5 ends to be in front 22-11 after 20 Ends and the last End was not required to be played. All 8 Finalists are to be congratulated on the good bowls they played throughout the Championship.
Congratulations to Julie Curry, Sharyn Newcombe, Karen Mudford and Donna Hampson on their tremendous achievement of winning their third consecutive Club Fours Championship 22-11. Congratulations also to Vicki Piper, Robyn McDonnell, Val Feuersanger and Gae Re on their achievement on reaching the Final and being Runner Up.
