MAJOR CONSISTENCY SINGLES
Our 2022-2023 Major Consistency Singles Round 1 commenced on Thursday, 14th April. A number of games going right down to the wire with only a shot or two the difference with Donna Hampson, Ruth Higham, Lyn McVicar, Liz Windle, Lorraine Clark, Kay Negus, Julie Curry and Vicki Piper winning their games.
Round 2 games were also keenly contested with Ruth Higham, Lyn McVicar, Kay Negus and Vicki Piper winning their games to progress through to the Semi-Finals.
The Semi-Finals were played on 21st April and WOW both of the Semi-Final games were tremendous to watch with both games coming down to the last couple of bowls played!
In the game between Ruth Highan and Lyn McVicar the scores were fairly even throughout. Ruth went into the last end leading 146-144, both collected 5 points each with Ruth taking out the S/F 151-149.
In Kay Negus and Vicki Piper’s game their scores were also fairly even throughout. Vicki was leading 147 to Kay’s 143 and in the next end Vicki picked up 3 points and Kay 7 points and they were both on 150 points each. An extra end was required to determine the Winner and after the 8 bowls had been delivered, they both had 2 of their bowls in the count and the tape came out to determine the points – Kay finished with 6 points to be on 156 and Vicki with 4 points to be on 154.
CONGRATULATIONS to all 4 Semi-Finalists on tremendous bowls played and it was a pleasure to watch.
The Final was played on 28th April and what a great game it was to watch, Ruth and Kay evenly matched all the way until the final bowl was played, with Kay winning 151-149. Congratulations to both ladies on good bowls played throughout the Consistency Singles.
